The Leader's 7 Essential Behaviors- 2nd behavior
Know From the Start Where You Want to Go

We all have the gift of imagination and moral conscience.
You are the programmer, so create your program!

Decide what you want to do, using the right time, talent, and tools.

There is hope and there are objectives: " having a definite future in mind; seeing it; imagining what it will be like".

Animals cannot do this. They can instinctively gather hazelnuts for the winter but cannot invent a nut-making machine.

Human beings are the only ones who can imagine a new course of action and who can consciously commit to it. We are the only life form that can "choose".

Why moral conscience?  To be effective, conscience must handle everything you can imagine, envision, and manufacture. Exercising creativity without moral conscience inevitably creates things without conscience to gain material advantages or social rewards. This creates profound imbalance, and it is noticeable through bad decisions and bad moods, as well as poor and sometimes even destructive results!

When you use these two human capacities: imagination and moral conscience, you are not relying on "memory"; your memory ties you to your past. Imagination is oriented towards the future.

Your potential is unlimited,
but potentiating means actualizing your abilities regardless of the circumstances.

Goals must be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time bound.

Use your creative power, be clear about the "Why", the "How" the "What", and then create your strategic action plan.
Specific goals and a clear action plan will inspire, motivate, and guide you and your team in the right direction.
