committed to sponsoring nine new Syrian arrivals: two parents and
seven children! No wonder she earned, with her life partner Émile
Proulx-Cloutier, the National Assembly medal for her social
involvement.

*Lieutenant General Roméo Dallaire
Roméo Dallaire is the founder of the Roméo Dallaire
Foundation's Child Soldiers Initiative, a global partnership whose
mission is to end the recruitment and use of child soldiers. A
renowned advocate for human rights, particularly regarding child
soldiers, veterans, and the prevention of mass atrocities, the general
is a respected advisor to the government, in addition to being a UN
advisor and a former Canadian senator.
His courage and leadership during his mission in Rwanda earned
him the Meritorious Service Cross, the U.S. Legion of Merit, the
Aegis Award for Genocide Prevention, and the affection and
admiration of people around the world. His dedication to humanity
throughout this mission has been well documented in films and
books, including his own book, Shake Hands with the Devil: The
Failure of Humanity in Rwanda.

The list of influential and kind-hearted leaders who have
made or are currently making a difference in this world is long
and could constitute a book in itself.
These leaders all used a powerful common force: LOVE!
The purpose of this exercise is for us all to become aware that
this style of leadership—heart leadership—has always existed, and
it always will. The difference is that it will become increasingly
