Mohammed Nasheed
Originally from the Maldives, he is well-known to those who
follow environmental issues closely. He served as president between
2008 and 2012, gaining this position after being imprisoned dozens
of times for political reasons. During his tenure, he sought to make
his small country completely carbon neutral. While working
towards this goal, he inspired several leaders around the world.
Since then, the concept of carbon neutrality has been taken more
seriously than ever, and Nasheed's influence undoubtedly played a
major role in this.
Bill Gates
Bill Gates has shattered the myth that billionaires aren't generous.
As the founder of Microsoft, he has always been firmly committed
to the foundation he founded with his wife and co-runs, The Bill and
Melinda Gates Foundation, which works to improve education in
the United States, combat infectious diseases, and combat poverty
through global food supplies.

*Terry Fox
By continuing his Marathon of Hope across Canada in 1980,
Terry became a source of inspiration, courage, and influence, not
only for all Canadians but also for the entire world. Having had one
leg amputated following a diagnosis of bone cancer at the age of 18,
this didn't stop him from beginning his Marathon of Hope, a cross-
country journey to raise funds for cancer research. Although he was
unable to complete the journey, the process made him a national
hero, and more than $650 million was raised in his name. He was
the youngest person to be awarded the Order of Canada in 1981,
shortly before his death. The first Terry Fox Run took place
approximately two months later.
