Chapter I
Why Heart-Centered Leadership?
As a Leadership coach, I realize that my mission in the business
world is to ignite the inner flame that resides in the heart of every
leader or manager, so that their role is seen as a mission, not a job
or a way to prove their superiority over others. We are all part of
each other. They are called to realize that the members of their team
are all projections of themselves, that all reflect what lives inside
them, the good and the bad.
Leadership chooses us, not the other way around. My life journey
allows me to see this clearly now. Accepting this as our life mission
and purpose will enable us to truly embrace this mission and pursue
the path that leads us to our own development, while contributing to
the growth of each and every one of us. Accepting and becoming
present to this great responsibility is essential because, as leaders,
we are role models, fathers and mothers of families; our attitudes
and behaviors send strong messages about what is considered
acceptable or tolerable in our society.
If we look at the state of our current society, we see the glaring
results of the dysfunctional leadership we have all been subjected to
for millennia. This dominant and dictatorial leadership style has
generated multiple wars, genocides, economic crises, corruption,
crimes against humanity, environmental crises, and the list could go
on and on.
Leaders on the verge of dementia have had a huge impact, and
they have a great influence on the future of our planet.
We must look back to our history to learn about these ego-driven
leaders who killed and massacred millions of men, women, and
children for their own glory and personal triumph. Their thirst for
power and their great need to dominate and conquer the world had
