The Leader's 7 Essential Behaviors - 3rd behavior

The Leader's 7 Essential Behaviors - 3rd behavior Prioritize real priorities!

While business leaders take on the proactive commitment of behaving in accordance with their values and principles, most often approach time management only in terms of the priorities in their agendas.

Sometimes, they even confuse " priorities" with "important."

It is much more effective to schedule our priorities after having clearly identified them based on key roles and objectives, and these will be determined in relation to personal and organizational missions.

This third behavior applies the principle of implementing our action plans to achieve our objectives. As we learn to recognize and schedule our priorities, to prioritize real priorities, we become more effetive in our missions, both personal and professional. The company develops an increased capacity for quality, and products and services receive more attention and more targeted and effective efforts.

In creating constancy in purpose, we struggle with both today's problems and tomorrow's, short-term and long-term priorities.

It's easy to get caught up in todays problems.

Adopting a new philosophy and putting everyone to work to effect a transformation requires changes, planning in action, inclusing this 3rd behavior, which promotes implementation. Constantly improving production and service systems, again, requires not only management and planning principles, which depend on practice, but also prioritizing real priorities.

Applying this behavior effectively links the principle of Principle-Driven Leadership.

The Tyranny of Urgency

A vicious circle!  Very often this results from planning and organizational problems. Importance according to whom?

It is really a priority for me or for the other person?

Knowing when to delegate and how to delegate?

Step 1:
Delegation begins with a conversation with the goal of creating an opportunity with other people.

Step 2: There must be an agreement between both parties regarding this opportunity.

Step 3: There must be a clear commitment between both parties.

Step 4: There must be a clear and specific deadline for the accomplishment of this opportunity.

Quote from the book: " If success is a game, these are the rules" - ( Chérie Carter Scott, author 10 Rules for a Fulfilling Life)

" You have exactly the time allotted to you, no more, no less, so use it or wase it! Since Your life is made up of the choices you make in your use of time, it is obvious that the success of your life will be directly proportional to the wisdom with which you use your time. Wise time use is an expertise that develops with the practice of the distinctions: choice, balance and commitment!"
